All I can ask is…
Of the top… it looks silly. Which is why it may (I stress “may” HEAVILY) work. Beyond the fact that the CGI looks like something that was dragged out of a box from 2002, the fact that “The Brothers Grimm“, “Red Riding Hood” and “Van Helsing” all failed at the attempt of this miserably and that you’re left wondering “Is Jeremy Renner praying that no one remembers he did this film in a year?”, this just looks like a bad film rushed into production based upon Jeremy’s success in “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” and “The Avengers”? I don’t really give much credence to the success of “Snow White and the Hunstsman” other than a rabid Kristen Stewart (again… why?) fanbase and the fact that “Thor” really did well. However, success is success, so…. moving on.
The campy tone of this trailer suggests that they’ll take a “tongue in cheek” direction and the movie will be laced with poorly crafted one-liners and a slew iffy witch taunting. Again, this may very well work if the darker and more serious aspects of the film can be pulled off in a credible manner. I hate to say it, but if it’s more “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer” TV series in tone and less “Van Helsing”…. this may actually be a decent, pop corn film. I have little faith in that assessment, but… you never know. Surprise me Hollywood.
